We have an immediate vacancy for a Sales Engineer with strong technical and sales skills to join our team.  The NanoAnalysis group of Oxford Instruments Americas is the market leader in analytical equipment accessories for scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy. Technologies include energy dispersive x-ray analysis, wavelength x-ray analysis and electron backscatter diffraction.

In this role of Regional Sales Engineer, the primary responsibility will be to manage sales for NanoAnalysis products in the Midwest Territory of the USA. This includes explaining the technology and applying the products and their benefits to the customer’s application. Building and maintaining customer relationships in this direct sales role is the key to our success.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and provide direct sales in 9 states in the Midwest
  • Pro-actively develop and pursue new prospects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with multiple OEM partners
  • Learn and understand technical specifications and benefits of NanoAnalysis products
  • Maintain and routinely update customer and prospect database
  • Generate monthly sales forecasts and lost order reports
  • Co-ordinate response to enquiries, bids and RFQ’s
  • Generate proposals and quotations
  • Oversee post sales activities, installation, training and service
  • Regularly follow up sales to facilitate offers of upgrades and service contracts
  • Reporting and discussing sales situations with the Sales Manager

 

The ideal candidate will have a B.S or technical degree, in a physical science or engineering, plus a minimum of 2 years sales experience in the field of technical capital equipment sales. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in electron microscopy and x-ray microanalysis techniques.

 

Candidates must be self-motivated and adaptable team player, able to interface with people of varied educational and social backgrounds. Candidates should have excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and Infor contact management software.

 

This position requires the ability and willingness to undertake approx. 70% domestic travel including overnight stays, and occasional international travel.

 

A valid US passport is required for access to secure customer sites.

 

A successful candidate may be located anywhere within the MidWest territory (IL, IA, WI, MN, MI, OH, KY, MO, IN), which has good road and airport access.

 

 

Essential Criteria

Training and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, technical degree, or equivalent in a physical science or engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years sales experience in the field of technical capital equipment sales. Preference given to candidates with knowledge and experience in electron microscopy and x-ray microanalysis techniques.
  • OEM sales experience.
  • Proven success in key account relationship management
  • Strong background in business development, including relationship building, contract and terms review, complete customer interaction with multiple departments and functions
